Last May 08, 2021, Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila launched its latest addition in the course “BS Esports” which aimed to entice the aspiring youth to become part of the emerging Esports scene.
Now, LPU has proven that this enigma is just a first step in much to come.
Lyceum of the Philippines University displayed its mastery to shed glory against Mapua University as they secure the Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE) Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Varsity Cup Title in a dominant fashion.
Neutralizing objectives, protecting its junglers, and proper team fights helped LPU oust their foes in the 4-2 thriller.
“This is important because even though it’s not in basketball, we were still able to bring honor to our school. That’s why we’re happy with this championship in esports,” said Yancy Remulla in the post-game interview. (A statement from GMA News Online)
Remulla led the Pirates’ assault in their championship run. Though their team was notable in their prepotent map presence, Shawn Umali, Lorenzo Navarro, Carlo Abadeza, and Alvin Baetiong added fuel to their igniting win.
Before heading in the Playoffs, LPU displayed poise in its Group Stages with an unblemished record.
What is the Collegiate Center for Esports?
Partnering with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Philippines, the CCE sought to introduce esports as a competitive environment for aspiring athletes. This Mobile Legends event was its first glimpse of action in what it can bring for the 10 NCAA Teams.
Their goal is to flourish the esports scene in the country through promoting athletes from the NCAA Universities.
