In line with its objective to strengthen the research capability of LPU-Cavite’s academic support personnel (ASP), the Research and Publications Office spearheaded an Action Research Seminar for ASP held at the Mahogany Lobby on January 7, 2021.
The seminar proper started with the orientation about the university’s research policies, agenda, and guidelines, which was discussed by Fr. Ramil R. Marcos, Head of the Community Outreach and Service Learning (COSeL) Department. Shortly after, the Head of the Communications and Public Affairs Department, Mr. Vincent C. Cortiñas, discussed what Action Research is all about. To further guide the participants in their research writing journey, Ms. Kimberly Joy E. Alcaraz, OIC Head of the Research and Publications Office, and Mr. Dan Jefferson B. Lopez, Chairperson of the College of Arts and Sciences, discussed the steps in writing a research proposal. For the last part of the discussion session, Mr. Elmer C. Matel, Manager of the Center for Technology-Enabled Education, shared his research journey – from proposal to publication – to serve as an inspiration to the workshop participants.
The highlight of the event was the workshop session wherein the participants had a chance to make an action research capsule proposal. The seminar facilitators also served as mentors for the workshop proper.
At the end of the workshop, a total of 18 capsule proposals were submitted and reviewed by the research team. To further ensure the attainment of the seminar’s objectives, regular monitoring of the research proposals’ progress will be done by RPO.
