Oct, 2020 – Three delegates from different departments participated in the 3rd Madayaw International Multidisciplinary Research Virtual Conference; a two-day academic event hosted by San Pedro College in Davao last October 1 and 2. The said event was attended by more than nine hundred participants from different higher educational institutions across the globe. Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite sent its own Fr. Ramil Marcos, OIC-Head of the Research and Publications Office, Dr. Catherine Cababa, member of the Quality Circle 5 from the College of Allied Medical Sciences, and Mr. Reinier Dave P. Zapanta, program chair for Psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences.
The pre-conference was held during the first day, with the theme of “Global Trends in Translational Research: Bridging the Gap from Research to Practice”. The morning half of the pre-conference highlights the talk of Dr. Lyre Anni E. Murao, Project Director of the Philippine Genome Center Mindanao Satellite Facility, University of the Philippines Mindanao, focusing on translational research, how it can help bridge the gap between research and practice, as well as the need to include it to the education curriculum.
The afternoon leg of the program was a breakout e-poster presentation session where participants choose to attend the various fields included in the multidisciplinary research conference: Health and Medicine, Environment, Natural and Physical Sciences, Business and Management, Education, Language and Literature, and Social Science. Each breakout session was moderated by experts in their respective fields from across the country.
The second day is the conference proper, with the theme of “Shaping the Future of Research Emerging from the COVID-19 Pandemic”. Dir. Nelson G. Cainghog, Director IV of the Research and Knowledge Management of the Commission on Higher Education was the keynote speaker for the morning session. Like the pre-conference, the afternoon session is a breakout session where participants attended the research plenary sessions from the different research fields included in the conference.
The two-day event was made possible through the leadership of Mr. Desiderio N. Noveno, Jr., DM, overall chair of the 3rd Madayaw International Multidisciplinary Virtual Research Conference and Executive Vice President of San Pedro College, Davao City.
This event will not only help in bringing it fresh research ideas to the Lycean academic personnel, but also help strengthen the camaraderie between researchers from different institutions.
