The Philippine Association of Private Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAPSCU)-Excellent Academic Research Link (PEARL) is conducting the “Inter-Institutional Collaborative Program for the Enhancement of Research Capability, Productivity, and Dissemination in Selected PAPSCU Higher Education Institutions” in partnership with the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE) starting April 2016 up to January 2017.
This 10-month training program consists of a series of five seminar-workshops which will culminate in a research colloquium where participants will present their competed research projects.
Last April 18-22, 2016, the first part of the seminar-workshop series was held at Emilio Aguinaldo College-Manila (EAC). This 5-day workshop focused on the thorough discussion of Qualitative Research.
On the first day, the participants from PAPSCU member HEIs were welcomed by Dr. Jose Paulo E. Campos, President of PAPSCU and EAC. As a member of PAPSCU, LPU-Cavite sent two participants for the said seminar-workshop – Mr. Mark M. Javier, Head of COSeL, and Ms. Kimberly Joy E. Alcaraz, Research Coordinator.
As a prelude, Dr. Socorro M. Rodriguez, Chair of PAPSCU-PEARL 2016, discussed the research process and design as a refresher for the participants. The research agenda or research priority areas were then deliberated by the PAPSCU-PEARL Core Group, together with the participants.
The Qualitative Research seminar proper started on the second day with Dr. Emily Tan as the resource speaker. In the morning sessions, Dr. Tan gave lectures on the different approaches on qualitative research while in the afternoon, the participants had their workshops. Before each day ends, all participants must be able to orally present their workshop outputs.
The 5-day seminar-workshop concluded with the announcement of the research proposal deadline, which is scheduled on the 22nd of May 2016, and the awarding of the certificates to the participants.
