13 July 2018- LPU Cavite received a courtesy visit by delegates from Taiyo Yuden, Sunvertex Co. Ltd. and InterAsia Outsource Inc. to discuss potential collaborations and explore new venture opportunities.

Taiyo Yuden is a Japanese materials and electronics company situated in Kyobayashi, Chuo and Tokyo that helped pioneer recordable CD technology along with Sony and Philips in 1988.  

The delegates met with the Vice President for Administration/Registrar, Ms. Maria Teresa O. Pilapil, Executive Dean of College of Engineering Computer Science and Architecture, Dr. Ramon C. Maniago, Chairperson, Department of Engineering, Engr. Arnel Avelino, Director of International Affairs, Ms. Miriam Abayan and Chairperson, Ms. Rosanna Laurel. The discussions touched on the intent to establish academic initiatives, potential employment opportunities and immersions.

Later during the visit, Taiyo Yuden’s Senior Operating Officer, Mr. Toshio Mishuku, also gave talks on the company’s latest developments including broader investment scales and the construction of new plants as a response to the increasing demand for electronic components. He emphasized that Filipinos have had an immense contribution to Japan’s country and workforce and would like to continue to strengthen their relationship with the Philippines. - R.M. Laurel
