LPU Cavite’s Seminar on Volunteerism and CSR: Inspiring the University Community to Serve God and Country

True to its commitment to live out the University’s Educational Philosophy and Vision-Mission, LPU Cavite, through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee and the Community Outreach and Service Learning (COSeL) Office, conducted a seminar on volunteerism and CSR on July 8, 2014. The resource speaker was Dr. Milwida Guevara, President and CEO of Synergeia Foundation, Inc., a non-government organization that focuses on empowering teachers and pupils/students for the development of basic education in different areas of the country.

Dr. Guevara emphasized in the seminar that volunteerism is not something that can be taught but rather a value that is expected from each individual. Nevertheless, individuals can be ‘inspired’ to live out volunteerism through examples of service and commitment made by other people. Dr. Guevara shared to the audience examples of individuals and books that ‘inspired’ her to commit herself to serving other people.

The seminar was attended by administrators, faculty members, and students from different colleges and departments. Some participants shared their own experiences in helping other people and expressed the desire to be committed to the different outreach programs of the University.
