Creativity Transformed Into Livelihood: CBA’s Outreach Program Through Crochet-making

The College of Business Administration (CBA), headed by Mr. Reynaldo San Mateo, Associate Dean of the college, together with Ms. Abigael Miranda, the college’s Quality Circle Chair for Social Orientation and Community Involvement, in coordination with COSeL, conducted the Crochet-making Livelihood Program for the 1st semester of the current academic year. This activity was the continuation of the outreach program started by the college in 2013. The objective of the program is to provide livelihood opportunities for the beneficiaries, composed mainly of residents of barangays near LPU Cavite.

The training sessions for the 1st semester were held on August 2 and September 13, 2014. Ms. Miranda, together with Ms. Cassandra May German, faculty member under CBA and an alumna of LPU Cavite, conducted the main training sessions for the participants. The sessions focused on the review of crochet-making skills studied during the previous academic year as well as development of new designs and basic crochet products. In addition to the skills training, Ms. Miranda and Ms. German also shared with the participants information regarding the target markets for the products, as well as websites that the participants can consult for more product and design options.
