On May 08, 2020, the LPU College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management faculty members attended the ASEAN Toolbox Connection Webinar sponsored by the Lyceum of the Philippines University. Prof. Ma. Christina Aquino, the Executive Director for Linkages and Planning of LPU Manila served as the resource speaker.
The webinar focused on the presentation of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Agreement (ASEAN MRA) on Tourism Professionals. Prof. Aquino presented the historical development and updates on ASEAN MRA. She also tackled the role of various agencies in implementing the ASEAN MRA 2015 for Tourism and explained the use of ASEAN MRA Toolbox. She emphasized that the various competencies in the said MRA can be embedded in the tourism and hospitality courses in the curriculum. The creation of an appropriate program and qualifications that meets Philippine and the Common ASEAN Tourism Curriculum (CATC) minimum standards were also discussed. Furthermore, she also explained the impact of the ASEAN MRA in the Philippine Quality Framework (PQF) and Philippine education and training. Lastly, Prof. Aquino challenged all the participants to maximize the ASEAN MRA opportunities to strengthen the LPU hospitality and tourism programs.
In the end of the webinar, Dr. Mark Irvin C. Celis, the Dean of CITHM of the Lyceum of the Philippines University Cavite Campus presented the synopsis of the event.
