CITHM attends International Conference and Research Forum

Dr. Mark Irvin C. Celis, Dean of CITHM, together with the Cruise Line and Tourism Management Programs Chairs, Mr. Andrew Nico O. Pilapil and Ms. Reymarie Lobo, participated in the 1st International Annual Convention and Research Forum 2020 "Celebrating Decades of Innovations in Hospitality and Tourism Education" which is a 4-day event held last January 30-February 01, 2020, Mercure Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia.

The first day of the event, January 29, 2020, Dr. Celis participated in the benchmarking activity at the Bali Tourism Polytechnic where he witnessed the best practices of the said institution in the following areas: curriculum, faculty, and facilities.

On January 30, 2020, the COHREP Research Forum has been staged where Mr. Pilapil presented a paper entitled "Utilization of Local Food Packaging: Using Musaceae in the Selected Restaurants as Perceived by the Customers". The said paper is co-authored by Ms. Marivic Delos Santos, CITHM Research Coordinator. The said research forum was themed "Digital Innovations in Hospitality and Tourism Education in the Philippines: A Global Perspective".

The 1st International Annual Convention of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) has been held on the third day. Dr. Celis, as the Vice President of the said organization, acted as a program committee member. The conference was participated by the different hospitality and tourism school administrators, and faculty members. The invited speakers talked about innovations in the implementation of the curriculum. Dr. Celis expressed his gratitude to all the participants through his closing remarks.

The last day of the event was an immersion to Balinese cultural and culinary tourism. The said international exposure of CITHM is a clear manifestation of the thrust of LPU Cavite in achieving its vision of internationalization and global networking & collaboration.
