CAMS holds their 2nd Cloaking of White Coat and Pinning Ceremonies

The College of Allied Medical Sciences’ 2nd Cloaking of White Coat and Pinning Ceremonies was held last April 24, 2018 at the LPU Cavite Auditorium. The main objective of the event is to edify the students with the role of science and technology and practice the risk management as they journey towards their chosen profession.

The students accompanied by their parents showed early at 1PM for a quick registration and brief socialization. While waiting for the other guests to come, others took advantage of the photo booth. Not long after, the program officially began with a doxology led by Ms. Annie F. Abonita, CAMS faculty member, immediately followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. The masters of the ceremony were Ms. Avril Ley Ann V. Recto and Mr. Nephi Sam D. Baniago, both are CAMS faculty members. The University Administrative Heads, Dr. Ramon C. Maniago, Executive Dean and the Vice President for Administration and Registrar, Ms. Maria Teresa O. Pilapil, delivered the welcome remarks and inspirational messages, respectively.

Dr. Catherine L. Cababa, CAMS QC representative for Research, had the privilege to introduce the guest speaker, Dr. Ricardo T Bagarinao, Dean of the Faculty of Education of the University of the Philippines-Open University. The talk was indeed spectacular as he discoursed the properties needed to be successful in the students’ chosen careers. The awarding of the plaque of appreciation subsequently followed. During the snack break, four intermission numbers entertained the crowd. The performers were students from BSMT 301 and BSPH 401. After the break, the President of the Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPHA), Dr. Yolanda Robles, was introduced by Ms. Maria Teresa T. Basilides, College Secretary. Dr. Robles, in her talk, underscored the importance of the practice of risk management in health care. The awarding of the plaque of appreciation subsequently followed.

The much-awaited cloaking of the white coat and pinning ceremonies commenced as Ms. Kristeen Joy P. Mercado, Pharmacy Laboratory Coordinator called one by one the BS Pharmacy students. Escorted by their parents, the students were donned with white cloak by the PPHA officers. The pharmacy hymn was then sung as it sealed the life-long commitment of the students to the pharmacy profession.

The pinning ceremony for the remaining courses followed. Ms. Annie F. Abonita led the pinning for the BS Biology, Mr. Romy M. Castor for BS Medical Technology, Ms. Vernessa A. Belarmino for BS Nutrition and Dietetics, and Mr. Aljon Rey M. Desierto for BS Radiologic Technology. The pin was placed on the right chest of the students’ uniform just above the LPU logo. Students and their parents piled to receive their solo moment on stage and have their pictures taken.

The oath of the students was led by the representatives from each program. Ms. Alfa Joy V. Fallurin from BS Biology, Mr. Juan Miguel Casabella from BS Medical Technology, Ms. Cielo Angelica Rosales from BS Nutrition and Dietetics, Ms. Aina Shane Fortuno from BS Pharmacy, and Ms. Allana Racimo from BS Radiologic Technology. Sequentially, each student led the taking of the oath for their respective courses together with their hopeful classmates.

The closing remarks was delivered by Dr. Romina R. Barcarse, Dean of CAMS. The event was concluded by the singing of the LPU hymn.
