The Student Affairs Office organized a Seminar on Gender and Development on February 16, 2016 from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Audio-Visual Theater. Two major topics namely, Anti-Sexual Harassment (RA 7877) and Violence against Women and Children (RA 9262) were discussed by representatives from the General Trias City Philippine National Police representatives, SPO2 Luisa Charie G. Atas, SPO2 Sarah Jane F. Drio, and PO3 Ramil V. Remotin.
The objectives of holding this interactive seminar are manifold. First, to inform and strengthen the awareness and level of consciousness of the students, especially the young women on the issues concerning sexual harassment and violence against women and children.
The seminar also aims to inform the students on the role of the local government unit/barangay in partnership with the Philippine National Police, through its women’s help desk the processes and protocols in reporting cases of sexual harassment and violence at the community level. The seminar also aims to educate the students on the safety measures to mitigate possible harassment and violence.
The NSTP classes of Ms. Queenie de Leon, Ms. Michelle Nagales and Mr. Genreigh Genuino participated in the said event.
