CITHM Performed ABOVE AND BEYOND in the COHREP 2021 National Virtual Skills Competition

The College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management’s students bagged prestigious awards in the COHREP 2021 National Virtual Skills Competition last December 3, 2021. The students’ abilities and determination, together with the coaches’ supervision, resulted in the top prize – GOLD – in the following categories: Creative Cake Display, Tourism Infographics, and Hotel Product Advertisements. Additionally, talents were shown and emphasized, earning silver and bronze prizes in the following categories: Vegetable and Fruit Carving and Flight Attendant Showmanship, respectively. The college competed successfully under the leadership of Mr. Mark Jayson de Chavez, the competition’s overall chair, and Mr. Joshua Maranan, the competition’s co-chair.

Inspired by Bacolod’s MassKara Festival, Mr. Strenc Katipunan successfully illustrated his skills in interpreting the culture of Negros Occidental in the Creative Cake Display Category earning him a GOLD medal together with his coach Ms. Rosszen Yorkah Rivera.

Ms. Rochelle San Pedro and Mr. Rial Vincent Pascua received the GOLD prize in the Hotel Product Advertisements category when they showcased their expertise in hotel product marketing, superior communication abilities, and determination. Their coach, Ms. Arlyn Valencia, was overjoyed that her mentorship guided the students throughout the tournament.

Mr. John Paul Sui and Ms. Jolina Mae Cabcaban won the GOLD prize in the Travel Infographics category, coached by Ms. Evangeline Ortiz. They succeeded in illustrating Batanes as a breath-taking adventure and a really remarkable domestic tourist destination in the Philippines. The competition emphasized the integration of knowledge and creativity.

Mr. Arman Duran, trained by Ms. Rosszen Yorkah Rivera, took home the SILVER prize in the category of Vegetable and Fruit Carving. Their design included flora and aquatic creatures into the competition’s bountiful harvest theme. Among the fruits and vegetables utilized in the competition were beetroot, watermelon, carrots, squash, onion, radish, cherry tomato, cantaloupe, and cucumber.

Ms. Maria Alyssa Mendez and Mr. John Nicholson Dela Cruz earned bronze in the Flight Attendant Showmanship category, mentored by Ms. Joanna Karol Garcia. The duo demonstrated proper in-flight safety and emergency protocols while acting as flight attendants.
