New Publication Features Work of Dean Laurel
One of the prized photographs of Dean Javier Antonio “Javi” Laurel was chosen to become part of a new book by Fr. Jose Ramon Villarin, SJ, President of the Ateneo de Manila University. The book “Siya Nga! Reflections with Art” was launched last January 28, 2020 at the De La Salle University in Manila. It was edited by Dr. David Jonathan Bayot, Executive Publisher of the De La Salle University Publishing House.
The book features a compendium of reflections by the eminent Jesuit educator alongside artworks by a broad range of Filipino artist (painters, sculptors, photographers), some of them National Artists and some younger talents in the country today. Among the artworks is a photograph by LPU-Cavite Dean of the College of Arts and Design, Dean Laurel who is an academic and artist in his own right.
Dean Laurel is LPU-Cavite’s youngest dean and head of its youngest college, CFAD. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in Literature at DLSU-Manila. His predilection for the arts is seen in his own growing collection of poems and aesthetic photographs.
