AB Comm’s Likha Productions Bags Two Awards in the Dokyu Bata Competitions 2020
To be on duty anytime regardless of the situation, even amidst a pandemic, is part of a journalist’s job description. Our future media men and women of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Cavite were definitely up to the task as Likha Production showcased their talent in this year’s prestigious DokyuBata Documentary Competition.
Their documentary entitled, “Sa Likod ng Maskara” sealed a slot in the official top 10 finalists and bagged the “Audience Choice Award” and “Best Direction Award” in the Young Adult Category during the virtual awarding held by National Council for Children’s Television on November 20, 2020.
The 10-minute documentary tackles a relevant issue during the COVID-19 pandemic in which people tend to rely immensely on Filipino resiliency alone and seemed to divert everyone’s attention from the underlying political issue.
This high-caliber piece was written and directed by ABC 201’s Romel Tibre which then earned his team the Best Direction Award. It was shot and strategically put together by their editor from ABC 301, Prince Cyrel Castillo. Elyzsa Jenwel Olavydez was the voice of the documentary while Lhara Mikhaella Bonilla and Ayra Jade Paraiso were in charge of the production design. Ma. Kathleen Gail Cacho, Ralph Jerome Tabing and Jayson Roa were the production staff and researchers of the team.
Furthermore, the whole team worked remotely for two months in compliance with the health protocols and conducted a one-day shoot in Brgy. Julugan III Tanza, Cavite last September 16, 2020.
In retrospect, Likha Production’s performance for DokyuBata 2020 served as a strong comeback from last year’s feat.
