IS Lyceans Triumphed in MSAA i-Spell Competition

Mr. Gail S. Fernandez

Two LPU IS students once again brought pride to the institution as they joined the i-Spell competition organized by the Montessori Schools Administrators Association (MSAA) during the 11th season of National Scholastic, Civic and Creative Challenge with the theme, RISE – 21st Century Learners in the Post-Pandemic Era. The event was held last May 5, 2023 at Tagaytay Montessori, Tagaytay City with the aim of showcasing the scholastic aptitude, exceptional talents, civic-mindedness, and creativity of 21st century learners. One of the most anticipated highlights of the day is the i-Spell competition where the vocabulary and spelling abilities of the delegates from different levels are put into test.

As winners of the Cavite Alliance of Private School Organizations (CavPUSO) i-Spell competition, Carla Denise Luzon, grade 11 student, and Alyssa Marie Tabios, grade 12 student, of the International School competed in the national i-Spell competition.

The competition commenced at 8:00AM and the delegates from IS battled it out against their competitors as they spelled words ranging from easy to difficult. The contest ended at 11:00AM and the awarding ceremony commenced shortly after. The intensive training of the IS delegates paid off as Ms. Luzon bested out her competitors and was proclaimed champion for the grade 11 category, while Ms. Tabios was declared fourth place in the grade 12 category. They were coached by Mr. Paul Andrei Bautista, Ms. Cherry Mae Panong, and Ms. Mika Corollo, faculty members of the International School.
