Guidelines for the Completion of Requirements to Remove the “Inc” Mark Incurred During Second Semester, S.Y. 2019-2020
Explanatory Note:
The LPU IS Academic Continuity Plan, issued last April 31, 2020, allowed the inclusion of the rating “Incomplete” (INC) as a grade for Junior High School and Senior High School students who will not be able to complete the requirements for the second semester of SY 2019-2020 on or before June 5, 2020. In addition, the same continuity plan clarified that “A rating of INC is NOT a failing grade. Students with a grade of INC for the second semester of SY 2019-2020 will be allowed to complete academic requirements following the Completion Policy of the University until the end of the second semester of SY 2020-2021.” In addition, “Grade 10 and Grade 12 students who are potential candidates for completion or graduation respectively are highly encouraged to complete the requirements on or before June 5, 2020.”
Last June 1, 2020, a set of guidelines was issued to students through their respective class advisers indicating that “The students concerned may file a request for the completion of requirements starting July 13, 2020, Monday until May 28, 2021, Friday, i.e. the last day after the end of SY 2019-2020 until last school day of SY 2020-2021.”
However, in order to give further consideration to our students, especially possible candidates for Junior High School (JHS) completion or Senior High School (SHS) graduation, we offer the following updated guidelines and procedures.
Guidelines
- Students who have incurred a mark of “INC” (Incomplete) for the second semester of SY 2019-2020 may request for the completion of requirements starting June 22, 2020, Monday until May 28, 2021, Friday.
- Grade 10 and Grade 12 students (who are possible candidates for completion or graduation respectively) must submit complete requirements (i.e. until step 4 in the procedure below) for all their enrolled subjects not later than 5:00pm of July 10, 2020, Friday for them to be included in the online completion/graduation ceremonies. For this purpose, no extension of the deadline will be allowed for any reason.
- Upon effecting the change of the grade from INC to a passing numerical grade,
- Students who will qualify for any academic awards will still receive the corresponding awards (subject to review of discipline records)
- Students may be promoted to the next grade/year level provided that the students received a passing grade for the whole AY 2019-2020
- The use of the rating INC will be applied only to the second semester of SY 2019-2020 due to situations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of the community quarantine experienced in the middle of the said learning period. The standard grading system will be applied again from the first semester of SY 2020-2021 onwards.
