Ms. Kresha Joy G. Ciocson-Delmo
The first semester in-service training for teachers was held on August 10-14, 2023, at the Lemongrass Studio. The training was attended by the Junior High School and Senior High School teachers of the International School.
The first part if the training was a seminar on artificial intelligence (AI) and its opportunities and challenges for education, discussed by Dr. Elmer Matel, the Head of the Center for E-Learning. The teachers learned about the potential of AI to improve teaching and learning, as well as the challenges that need to be addressed in order to fully harness its benefits.
The knowledge-sharing session commenced after a short break. Ms. Ma. Kristena Ditan, Mr. Paul Andrei Bautista, Mr. Loyd Asunan, and Mr. Marc Christian Castillo re-echoed their learning from the PEAC seminar they attended last June 23–25, 2023, at LPU Laguna.
The second day of the training began with a Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Alvin Chavez. The next session was the TQIDP (Total Quality Instruction Development Program) proper, which covered topics on artificial intelligence and the future of LPU Cavite.
After lunch, the teachers attended a monthly meeting where the headmaster discussed the academic calendar, calendar of activities, reminders on instruction and classroom management, and faculty meetings.
The third and final day of the training was a plenary session on reorientation and a workshop on the preparation of learning plans, table of specifications, and myLPU course sites. The teachers learned about the different components of a learning plan and how to create one. They also learned about the table of specifications and how to use it to develop their assessments.
After lunch, the teachers participated in parallel sessions on learning plans, TOS, PEAC recertification, and ALE. These sessions were led by JHS and SHS coordinators.
The day ended with a synthesis of the day’s activities and the singing of the LPU Hymn. The first semester in-service training for teachers was a success. The teachers were able to learn new things and improve their teaching practices. They are now better equipped to face the challenges of the new school year.
