TYPHOON “PAENG” SPARKS LYCEAN GENEROSITY
Typhoon “Paeng” has hardly moved out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility when the Lyceum Central Student Government (LYCESGO) sprang into action on Sunday, October 30, 2022. President Julian Grayfrex Alcomendas and his fellow officers contacted CSAR Director Sir Lizandro Ferrer and the COSeL staff to express their readiness to initiate a university-wide donation campaign for the typhoon sufferers in hard-hit Noveleta, Cavite. Their proposal was later formalized and submitted to LPU VPA Dr. Maria Teresa O. Pilapil, who readily supported it.
Dubbed LPU HEART (Humanity Extended to Affected Regions of the Typhoon), the project is aimed at sharing immediate help to typhoon ravaged communities in coordination with the Holy Cross Parish of Noveleta. From an initial 5 packs of noodles to an outpouring of rice, canned goods, water and cash gifts, the students’ generosity kept growing and in a few days, the donations were being prepared for delivery to the recipients. Donations in cash and in kind are welcome from November 3-9, 2022. Much credit is due to the quick thinking and planning of the LYCESGO and college student governments, and the various student-organizations that responded to the call and to the coordination of the CSAR and COSeL offices.
