Ms Ellen Castillo, with some student leaders of CITHM’s INSEAPIRE Events Class – CLHS 301 gathered donations for the purchase of hygienic supplies for the persons-under-custody who are currently in the facility. During the visit, LPU was represented by Ms Castillo, Sir Andrew Nico O. Pilapil, Sir Oliver Olarve and the COSeL Head, Fr Ramil.

The LPU group assisted in distributing freshly cooked sopas and freshly baked bread to the detained men and women numbering close to 400. Then, Ms Castillo and Mr Olarve distributed the hygienic and disinfectant kits to the various cells. It was a moving and memorable experience for all.

The LPU visit was facilitated and organized by its partner group, Lingkod Lazaro, whose members also provided freshly cooked snacks for the inmates. After having visited several times the General Trias City Jail in late 2021, this is the first time that LPU has joined an outreach activity in the custodial facility.
