LPU Joins Prison Awareness Week Events

The Lyceum of the Philippines Cavite joined hands with the Diocese of Imus Prison Ministry in the celebration of Prison Awareness Week 2021. Representatives of the Community Outreach and Service Learning (COSeL) and of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) paid a courtesy call at the convent of the Ursuline Sisters in Tagaytay City to get a panorama of the program for the welfare of jail inmates in the province of Cavite on October 28, 2021.

Later on the same day, the LPU representatives met with members of their partner NGO, Lingkod Lazaro (service providers under the supervision of the Diocese of Imus Prison Ministry) at the Parish of the Annunciation, Pasong Camatchile, General Trias City. After the warm greetings from the parish priest, the two groups proceeded to deliver donations and pay a courtesy call to the coordinator and the wardens of the city jail.

Aside from material and cash donations, LPU Cavite was able to share the results of research that may be beneficial to the administration of the city jail. This research came from the College of Arts and Sciences and was delivered personally by Mr. Dan Jefferson Lopez who teaches in the Legal Studies and Foreign Service programs.
