LPU CSL Receives Citation for BJMP Outreach
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) of General Trias City recently awarded to the Lyceum of the Philippines’ office of Community Outreach and Service Learning (CSL) a warm tribute for its commitment to the upliftment of the morale of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in the city’s correctional institutions. The university, through the CSL office, has entered into partnership with Lingkod Lazaro, a local NGO working for the welfare of PDLs in Cavite. Since then, LPU CSL has been actively engaged in projects and activities for the benefit of the inmates for the past two years.
This partnership with Lingkod Lazaro has also allowed the university to establish links with the local city jails in Navarro and Malabon as venues for the good intentions and generous impulse of faculty and students who wished to contribute to the restoration of human dignity of the PDLs. The outreach programs of some of our colleges have included the PDLs among their partner communities, leaving a positive mark on the lives of these marginalized sector in society. The certificate awarded to LPU CSL on June 29, 2023 was signed by Officers Liza Valentino and Aris Williamere Villaester, wardens of female and male dormitories.
