LPU Community Pantry Serves University Workers
The Maginhawa Community Pantry, which has sparked a revolution of generosity around the country and even abroad, inspired the LPU-C community to start its own version here in campus. The Community Outreach and Service Learning (COSeL) office announced on May 3, 2021 the plan to launch the pantry and soon after asked donations from the employees and faculty members who enthusiastically pledged their support.
The intended beneficiaries of the LPU-C Community Pantry are the hard-working workers in the janitorial, maintenance, and security staff and their families. The first distribution of food items will be on May 11, 2021 with volunteers from the staff of the College of Allied Medical Services (CAMS) led by their Dean, to assist the limited staff of COSeL.
This initiative has the strong support of Ms Maria Teresa O Pilapil, LPU-C Vice-President for Administration who expressed her intention of seeing the project done regularly and extended to the outside community while the Covid crisis persists. The COSeL office thanks the donors for this first ever community pantry activity.
