LPU Cavite Now a Member of Service-Learning Asia Network (SLAN)
After a one-year wait for the approval of membership to the Service Learning Asia Network (SLAN), due to the pandemic, the Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite was finally accepted as a new member on November 19, 2022 through a communiqué sent by Dr. Sharon Valamarthi B., Director of Service Learning of CHRIST University, Bangalore India. CHRIST University is the current secretariat for the organization which alternates among the members.
LPU Cavite joins Philippine universities like Ateneo de Manila, De La Salle University, UST, and Silliman University and Philippine colleges like Miriam and Union Christian College in their affiliation with the network. LPU’s logo now appears in the site membership page (https://christuniversity.in/servicelearningasianetwork#1570690557308-e0057718-5459).
The network seeks “to promote the common interests and networks of student exchanges, faculty research, curriculum development and program evaluation among colleges and universities interested in Service-Learning in Asia. SLAN members share ideas about the development of Service-Learning in the region and have united together to encourage cross-national collaborations” (SLAN section in Christ University website). SLAN will host the 9th Asia Pacific Regional Conference on Service-Learning, in India, on 19-21 July 2023.
