LPU BLOOD: Saving Lives

After having been interrupted by two pandemic years, the community of the Lyceum of the Philippines Cavite successfully conducted its latest blood donation campaign. Dubbed LPU BLOOD (Blood Lovingly Offered, Obtained and Donated), LPU COSeL partnered with the Department of Health Provincial Office (General Trias) for a blood-letting activity on June 8, 2022.

The campaign received enthusiastic support from students, ASP and faculty who volunteered as donors. After thorough assessment by the DOH team, a good fraction of the donors passed for actual blood extraction. Others were refused for various reasons ranging from lack of sleep to taking maintenance medicines.

According to nurse Ms. Janice Causapin, the DOH Coordinator, LPUC has so far been the only academic institution that invited them for a blood-letting activity since the pandemic struck. Student volunteers from the College of Nursing (guided by Sir Jarrel Gallego) and College of Allied Medical Sciences (CAMS) assisted during the project. The COSeL office extends profuse gratitude to all those who supported the event.
