LPU and Lingkod Lazaro Sign MOA
The Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite and Lingkod Lazaro Ministry entered into a three-year collaborative venture by signing a Memorandum of Agreement on October 21, 2021. LPU Vice-President Dr. Maria Teresa O. Pilapil, strongly supportive of the partnership, stood as the main signatory for the university while Sis. Merlinda R. Camposano and Sis. Jade F. Perez represented Lingkod Lazaro Ministry.
Lingkod Lazaro Ministry, a church group that has its office in the Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Pasong Camachile, General Trias, is a subsidiary of the province-wide Prison Ministry of the Diocese of Imus. Its main purpose is to be a regular service provider for the three local jails in General Trias City. By collaborating with Lingkod Lazaro, LPU Cavite both supports both a local NGO/ church initiative and the city’s program for the benefit of persons deprived of liberty.
LPU Cavite is committed not only to help in giving material support to the inmates of the city jails, but also to provide much needed boost to those who need legal, intellectual, psychological, health, and social upliftment and assistance. Professors and students, especially belonging to the College of Law and the Legal Studies program can plan seminar/ webinar presentations and discussions relevant to the situation of the inmates. Researches that touch on legal matters pertaining to jail management can be shared to the responsible wardens.
With this MOA signing, LPU Cavite has added another local community institution to its list of outreach partners and beneficiaries. Here’s wishing LPU and Lingkod Lazaro a truly blessed and fruitful working relationship in the service of one of the most marginalized sectors of society.
