Fresh Start for ALS Program 2021

After being temporarily suspended due to the sudden onslaught of the pandemic in 2020, the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program heads off to a fresh start in LPU-Cavite.

With the strong support of LPU Vice-President for Administration, Dr. Maria Teresa O Pilapil, the COSEL office opened its door to interested learners. As a result, there is a conspicuous increase in the number of learners for this year.

Learners for the elementary program consist of 11 individuals – 7 females and 4 males. For the Junior High School program, there are 51 learners – 32 females and 19 males. Some of the high school enrollees have been graduates of the elementary program offered in 2019 before the Covid period. The ALS program formally started its lessons last September 13, 2021. On September 17, the Functional Literacy Test (FLT) was conducted to assess the capacity of each individual learner. Printed modules are provided by the university through the COSEL office for pick-up by learners following the appointment system now in place. Follow-up lessons are at times conducted through online meetings to help learners with their questions and clarifications.
