ALS Batch 2022-23 Completes Studies
Twenty-three men and women in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program at the Lyceum of the Philippines Cavite received DepEd approval for completion/ graduation. Two (2) of the completers will obtain elementary school diplomas while twenty-one (21) will receive junior high school completion certificates. This year’s batch will be the first to join an in-person moving-up ceremony in August with all the ALS completers of General Trias City since the end of the Covid pandemic. The youngest student studied together with her grandmother Mrs. Leonarda Maravillas, the oldest and by far, the first senior citizen completer from LPU.
The program, run by the university through its Community Outreach and Service Learning (COSeL) office, offered lessons in life skills, computer and digital literacy, English, Mathematics, and entrepreneurship, among others. The learners also had the chance to use the sports facilities and to hold socialization activities in the campus. While waiting for completion/ graduation, remaining lessons are still held for the learners by generous faculty and student volunteers.
The COSeL staff extends much deserved gratitude to the donors of school supplies, the volunteer teachers from the faculty, Academic Support Staff (ASP), and the students from the various colleges who generously participated in the program, and the university administration for their strong support for the out-of-school youth and adults who seek to reach their dreams through LPU Cavite.
